Several persons have been injured in separate road incidents over the weekend.
Four persons were injured in an early morning collision at Buxton, East Coast Demerara (ECD). Reports indicate that one of the vehicles lost control before colliding with another vehicle travelling in the opposite direction along the public road. The injured individuals were taken to the hospital for medical treatment. In a separate incident, three young persons were injured in a motorcycle collision at Meadowbrook Gardens late Saturday evening. The crash allegedly involved two motorcycles. Details surrounding how the collision occurred have not been confirmed by Police. Additionally, information received indicates that a female was struck in a suspected hit-and-run accident around midnight at Land of Canaan, East Bank Demerara (EBD). The driver of the vehicle allegedly left the scene.
In recent months, traffic officials have intensified enforcement efforts, warning that dangerous driving, speeding and failure to observe traffic regulations contribute significantly to injuries and fatalities on the nation’s roadways.
