Murder accused charged for killing Lusignan Prison inmate

Twenty-two-year-old murder accused Shawn Jordan, also called “Five Minutes”, was on Thursday slapped with an additional murder charge when he made a virtual appearance before Magistrate Marissa Mittelholzer.

Murdered prisoner Dason Dundas

Jordan, who is incarcerated at B Holding Bay 2 at the Lusignan Prison for murder, was arraigned for the murder of Dason Dundas which occurred on April 21, 2020 at the said penitentiary.
He was not required to plead to the indictable charge when it was read to him and as such, was remanded to prison until October 19, 2020.
It was reported that on the day in question, Dundas, 31, of Anns Grove, East Coast Demerara (ECD), was chopped about his body during a fight with two inmates in one of the Holding Bays at the Lusignan Prison.
Owing to the severity of his injuries, he was picked up and taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital, where he succumbed while receiving medical attention.
Dundas was remanded to prison in August 2019 for trafficking in narcotics. It was alleged that on August 22, 2019, at Corn Hill Street, Georgetown, he had in his possession 43.772 kilograms (96.3 pounds) of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking.
The illicit drug was unearthed after Police conducted a search of his cell.
However, the Police are yet to charge someone for the murder of 40-year-old Aldryn Adonis, also known as “Shawn Peters”, which occurred on August 18, 2020 at the Lusignan Prison.
It was reported that the now dead man and four others were involved in a fight during which he was seriously chopped to the head, chest, hands and feet.
Police had stated that Adonis was in Holding Bay Two, while the suspects were in Holding Bay One. On the day in question, Adonis jumped the fence which separates the two bays.
An argument then ensued between him and the suspects which ultimately resulted in a fight.
Adonis was subsequently taken to the medical outpost at the prison and then escorted to the Georgetown Public Hospital, where he was admitted in critical condition. He later succumbed to his injuries.
