Murder accused to know fate tomorrow

Presently on trial before Judge Jo Ann Barlow and a 12-member mixed jury for the murder of Linden, Region 10 (Upper Demerara-Berbice) businessman Romel Edison Gomes is John Caesar, a former East Ruimveldt, Georgetown resident.
After a jury deliberates on the case against Caesar on Tuesday afternoon, Caesar’s fate will probably be known. Tuesday morning has been designated as the summation day by Justice Barlow. After that, she will give the case to the jury for consideration and potential verdict return.

Murder accused: John Caesar

The charge against Caesar states that on March 12, 2018, in the county of Demerara, he murdered Gomes called “Eddy”, a former national footballer.
According to reports, on the day Gomes, a father of one of Lot 53 Wismar Housing Scheme, Linden, was murdered, Caesar was reportedly one of two persons last seen at his home.
The now dead 32-year-old businessman was allegedly heard arguing with Caesar and another man prior to his death.
It was reported that during the argument, a loud explosion was heard and the suspects fled the scene in Gomes’s motor car – PVV 2057 – which was parked in front of his shop.
Gomes was discovered in a pool of blood with his hands bound and gagged with a bandana.

Dead: Romel Edison Gomes

He was reportedly found with a gunshot wound to his right temple, a small laceration on top of his head and another lacerated wound to the neck.
A post-mortem examination later gave his cause of death as gunshot wound to the head. Following an investigation, Caesar was arrested and charged with the murder. (G1)
