Murder of cattle farmer continues to baffle detectives

Two months have passed and investigators probing the murder of 67-year-old Sohan Ramdial who was found buried in a shallow grave on his Belle West, West Bank Demerara (WBD) farm is yet to prosecute the perpetrator.

Dead: Sohan Ramdial

In the initial stage of the investigation, detectives had arrested two men, but they were later released for lack of evidence.
The lawmen were working on the theory that Ramdial might have stumbled onto the suspect(s) cultivating marijuana on his farm and raised objections.
The cattle farmer was said to own a large plot of land, where cops discovered illicit plants being cultivated.
There are no cameras in the area and the farm is isolated, so there are no eyewitnesses,” a source in the probe said.
Region Three (Essequibo Islands-West Demerara) Police Commander, Assistant Commissioner Simon Mc Bean told Guyana Times that the case was not closed and they were working with any information that would help bring closure to the case.
Ramdial had left for his farm the day before his body was found, to milk his cows.
When he did not return home, his children went out to look for him the following morning and made the shocking discovery.
According to reports, the now-deceased man was strangled before he was buried in the shallow grave.
