MVP, super fan to ride off in style

… Kick off set for Saturday

As part of the third annual Petra Organization/Corona Futsal tourney, sponsors Rose Ramdehol Auto Sales on Tuesday donated two of their signature Hero motorcycles to the organizers.
The two motorcycles which will be won by the tournament’s Most Valuable Player (MVP) and one lucky fan, was donated by Joshua Ramdehol, Managing Director of the auto sales company at Tuesday’s handing over ceremony held at the company’s South Road Georgetown location.

Petra’s co-director, Troy Mendonca said the gesture was a special one as he complimented the company for ensuring that players and fans alike have something tangible to look forward to during the tournament.
“I’m happy the management and staff of this company, see it fit and have the confidence in us to join in awarding the best player and spectators as such we thank them and wish them well in their endeavors,” said Mendonca.
Ramdehol during his remarks said that Hero and the auto sales are happy to be a part of the futsal cup and they were pleased that they were considered for sponsorship of the event.
He said the Hero brand is associated with sports internationally and that the brand will continue to be an ambassador for sports here in Guyana and around the world. Ramdehol added that as sponsors, they are eager to see the happy faces of the fan and the player who receives the bikes at the end of the competition.
Some 24 of the top street teams including; Sparta Boss, Back Circle, Tiger Bay and West Front Road are set alight the National Gymnasium from February 24 when action kicks off. In Saturday’s opening round Plaisance will go up against Mocha at 19:00h with Future Stars and Xtreme Campbellville clashing at 19:50h. YMCA gets down to business against Albouystown at 20:40h with Alexander Village and Leopold Street playing 50 minutes later. The final games of the evening will see Back Circle playing Broad Street and Sparta Boss against Tiger Bay.
In group A, the teams are Alpha Warriors, Tucville, Show Stoppers and Kingstown while Group B is where Sparta Boss, Tiger Bay, Plaisance and Mocha are classed.
Group C has Old School Ballers, Future Stars, Xtreme Campbellville and New Market Street are slated to compete while West Front Road, YMCA, Sophia and Albouystown are down for action in Group D.
Group E features Bent Street, North East, Channel 9 and California Square while Back Circle, Leopold Street, Alexander Village and Broad Street play in Group F.
The tournament is sponsored by Corona Beer and Namilco under its Wheat Germ brand.
