An Under-19 practice match of 40 overs – which was reduced to 34 overs because of rain – was played at the MYO ground between Positive Foundation Agricola Club, aka Agricola Cricket Club, and the MYO.
MYO won the toss, batted first, and made 152 for 8.
The left-handed Dillon Ramsaroop top scored with 53 (8×4, 1×6) and Saeed Sattaur produced 34 (7×4).
Bowling for Agricola, Neil Hutton took 4 for 13 from 7 overs, and Jermaine Fyfee, bowling slow medium, took 2 for 25 from 4 overs. Moreover, one wicket each went to Shawn Thompson, Joel Gilkes and Andel Manoharlall.
In reply, Agricola got off to a solid start, with Andel Manoharlall and Adam Wilson putting together a partnership of 38 in 4 overs. Adam Wilson was the aggressor, scoring 20 (4×4) and Andel Manoharlall scored 5 (1×4). Adam Wilson was the first to go, after which wickets kept falling.
Stephon Sankar, playing as guest player for Agricola, batted at number 10 and top scoring with 33 (3×4, 2×6), being the last man to fall. Agricola fell short by 7 runs, as they could muster only 145 all out, with Emanuel Lewis supporting with 22 (1×4, 2×6) and Thierry Moore with 15.
Bowling for MYO, Saeed Sattaur took 4 for 26 from 6.2 overs, and Daniel Persaud took 3 for 10 from 3 overs.
This was the first hard-ball match for Agricola youth team, after the GCA CDC, headed by Mark Harper along with Shaun Massiah and President Neil Barry, went into Agricola and worked with the committed and disciplined youths, their President Stacy Cuffy, and the other members of the Board.
The Agricola Cricket Club is set to make its Under 17 and 19 Cricket Debut in the GCA underage Cricket Competitions when those start.
