NA couple busted with ganja in home

The Police have arrested a 30-year-old male and a 27-year-old female, both of Ferry Street, New Amsterdam, Berbice, Region Six (East Berbice-Corentyne) on Tuesday after a quantity of ganja was found in their home.
Police said the couple were arrested during an exercise, whereby ranks in the sub-division went to their residence and conducted a search.

During the search, the Police discovered a bag which contained 39 grams of cannabis. Another 1089 grams of ganja was found hidden under a chair in a room in the back of the building.
Both occupants were arrested and taken into custody. The cannabis was weighed and lodged. Charges are pending.
About a week ago, Police in Linden arrested a 31-year-old male with 118 grams of cannabis.
It was reported that members of an Anti-Crime Patrol observed the suspect acting in a suspicious manner in Co-op Crescent, Mackenzie, so they approached him and he attempted to flee.

The ranks gave chase and the man was cornered in the Mackenzie Market. A search was conducted on his person and the ganja was unearthed in a black fanny pack that he was wearing around his shoulders.
He denied ownership of the illicit substance, but was cautioned, arrested, and escorted to Mackenzie Police Station.
