NA man arraigned for friend’s murder

Captured murder accused, 29-year-old Donald Sheriff was on Tuesday arraigned for the murder of Keron Nicholson when he made a virtual appearance before Magistrate Peter Hugh at the New Amsterdam Magistrate’s Court.

Sheriff was captured on Saturday at Stone Creek Backdam, Mahdia, Region Eight (Potaro-Siparuni) – one day after the Police issued a wanted bulletin for his arrest.
However, the suspect was not required to plead to the indictable charge which stated that between March 8 and 19, 2019, he murdered Keron Nicholson at Patrick Dam, Angoy’s Avenue, New Amsterdam.
It was reported that on March 8, 2020, the suspect and Nicholson were engaged in a heated argument that escalated into an altercation.
However, Nicholson reportedly left the scene and was heading to Patrick Dam, Angoy’s Avenue, when he was attacked and beaten by the suspect with a piece of wood.
Nicholson was initially taken to the New Amsterdam Hospital, but was later transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
The father of one was remanded to prison and will return to court on June 25.
