NAMILCO pumps 750k into Futsal tourney

The National Milling Company (NAMILCO) has thrown massive financial support behind the Petra Organization ahead of their 3rd annual Futsal competition set to kick off February 24; at the National Gymnasium.
The brief presentation ceremony was held at the milling company’s Agricola site boardroom, where Financial Controller Fitzroy McKlowd handed over the $750, 000 cheque; as part of their donation to the tournament’s cash prize.

NAMILCO Marketing Manager Afeeze Khan said the company was happy to support the competition for another year as both entities strive to promote healthy lifestyles in the realm of sports. Khan further added that drive behind the company’s support stemmed from their love of sports, more so football which they have been backing over the years. Petra boss Troy Mendonca said that it was a pleasure to share the spotlight once again with the milling giants who have been behind the fraternity for some time. Mendonca added that both entities have a vision to help promote football and healthy living throughout the communities.
McKlowd during his brief remarks said he sees the tournament as a good way to help promote wellness and healthy living through Futsal. He credited some of the company’s top wellness products as foods to be consumed for athletes of all ages.
He further added that added that he’s expecting a wonderful tourney with a massive turnout by the die-hard, football-crazed communities. McKlowd in conclusion highlighted that the importance was to keep Guyanese fit and strong by ensuring the right foods are eaten, while stressing on the importance of exercise.
The Gymnasium will come alive when the 24 teams including Sparta Boss, Back Circle, Tiger Bay and West Front Road lock horns in intense action over the next few weeks. (Clifton Ross)
