Twenty-three-year-old Dellon Henry of Houston, Greater Georgetown, is expected to appear before Justice Sandil Kissoon at the High Court today in relation to the alleged shooting death of Dexter Griffith at East Ruimveldt, Georgetown, on September 29, 2015.
Reports were that Griffith on the day in question, at about 19:30h, was sitting on a chair at Genip Street, Ruimveldt, when the accused walked towards him and fired several shots in his direction, mortally injuring him.
It was also reported back then that after being shot, the now deceased man managed to stand up and walked a short distance away in an attempt to escape from Henry but eventually fell unconscious to the ground, while his assailant escaped.
Public spirited persons near the scene of the crime had taken Griffith to a city hospital where he was later pronounced dead on arrival. Henry has always denied he murdered Griffith. In fact, he had noted that on the day in question and at the time of the shooting, he was at home with his mother and was nowhere near the scene of the crime. Henry was committed to stand trial two years ago.
