National cricketer Anthony Adams awards Essequibo youths
Guyana and Essequibo left-arm spinner Anthony Adams did not forget the proverbial bridge he had crossed, as he embarked on awarding youths in Region Two for their efforts in 2021.

Trophies were awarded to the youths, and more than 10 youths received lunch.
A special trophy was also awarded for the Under-13 males. The Essequibo senior captain, who is also a Level II coach, said this initiative came naturally to him. “It is something that naturally came to my mind. I found it necessary to do something for the youngsters, even if it is nothing big, it is something to show appreciation and help encourage them. For the future, we have a 50-year lease on a land, and we would like to construct an indoor facility so youngsters across Essequibo could benefit,” Adams said.

The meals were prepared by the female organisation FemPower. This organisation is a team of young women in Region Two who strive to make lives of young women better, especially targeting school dropouts and single mothers. While the main focus is to empower women, FemPower has assisted youths in general.
This Adams initiative was done through Team Daniels and South Cricket Committee, and saw Debora Daniels, Forbes Daniels, Rayon DeCosta, Ottis Roberts, representatives of FemPower, and parents of the youngsters in attendance.
