National Junior Table Tennis Championships serve off on June 1
The Guyana Table Tennis Association will host its Junior National Table Tennis Championships from June 1 to 4 at the National Gymnasium.
According to a release by the Association, the championships will be contested in 12 categories; Boys’ 18 Years and Under Singles; Girls 18 Years and Under Singles; Boys’ 15 Years and Under Singles; Girls’ 15 Years and Under Singles; Boys’ 13 Years and Under Singles; Girls’ 13 Years and Under Singles; Boys’ 11 Years and Under Singles; Girls’ 11 Years and Under Singles; Boys’ 9 Years and Under Singles; Girls’ 9 Years and Under Singles; Novices Girls Singles and Novices Boys Singles.
Attention will now turn to many of the country’s promising junior national players
The release further stated that checks will be done to verify age and eligibility to participate in event and any infringements will be dealt with using International Table Tennis Federation guidelines.
Seeding for all the events will be done based on results of placing in the last three tournaments played according to international ranking.
The draws will be done for the singles events on Thursday, May 31, and all entries must be submitted by 17:00h on May 30. The entry fee for events range from $300 to $500 and $200 will be charged for late entries.
The recent senior championships saw some highly competitive action, with several of the juniors holding their own at the higher level which makes this championship quite intriguing.
