National Sports Commission congratulates Omari Glasgow on CONCACAF awards received

The National Sports Commission (NSC) has congratulated Golden Jaguars international player Omari Glasgow on his historic accomplishment in being awarded the 2023–2024 CONCACAF Nations League Top Scorer and Best Young Player accolades following the conclusion of the competition.

Director of Sport, Steve Ninvalle

Currently competing with the national team in the FIFA Series in Saudi Arabia, Glasgow, 20, registered seven goals in five matches during Guyana’s unbeaten campaign in League B of the Nations League. His exploits have led to Guyana qualifying for the first time in their history for the League A segment of the tournament.
The Chicago Fire II player has become the first Guyanese to win a CONCACAF Nations League Top Scorer’s accolade, and is also Guyana’s first ever winner of the Best Young Player award. Moreover, he is the first player to win multiple individual awards.
Glasgow, who has 14 goals in 21 appearances for the senior national setup, is poised to eclipse the national record of 18 goals in 26 outings by Nigel Codrington.
In applauding Glasgow’s achievements, Director of Sport, Steve Ninvalle, has said, “The NSC, and by extension the Ministry of Culture, Youth, and Sport and Government of Guyana, wish to extend congratulations to Omari Glasgow for his extraordinary achievements on the international stage in the CONCACAF Nations League. His feats, though aided by an overall collective effort and responsibility, highlight what can be realised and attained in a developing and advancing sports culture and environment.”
