Nation’s top cyclists to converge on Digicel’s Breast Cancer Awareness race

Today marks the 5th annual Digicel Breast Cancer Awareness cycle road race and the country’s top cyclist are expected to converge on the prestigious event.
Organisers have disclosed that close to 70 cyclist are expected to feature in the 30-lap race and defending champion Raynauth Jeffrey will face a stern challenge from the likes of Inaugural winner, Paul DeNobrega along with national road race champion, Geron Williams, the inform Hamza Eastman and other national riders like Orville Hinds (2014 winner), Marlon ‘Fishy’ Williams, Raul Leal and Michael Anthony.

The race will begin at Camp Ayangana on Irving Street and heads into the JB Singh Highway with a turn Camp Street into Thomas land and back to the start.
Before the feature events begins, there will be novice race which will see riders go for 4 laps; this race caters for all cycling enthusiast who wish to participate in the noble event.
Head of Marketing of the telecommunications giant, Jacqueline James had a stated that the race will be dedicated towards staff member Sharon Khan and that “all participants are required to pay a registration fee of $1000 and Digicel will match the total fees collected and donate the money to the Cancer society on behalf of all racers and staff”.
Over One Million in cash prizes would be at stake for the big race where senior and junior riders will pedal for cash rewards varying from $250,000, $200,000, $150,000, $80,000 and $20,000, respectively on offer for the top five.
The top three juniors are guaranteed, $80,000, $50,000 and $30,000. Veterans Under and Over-45 will pedal off at the same time as the seniors and juniors but will only race for 18-Laps.
Today’s fixture is scheduled to pedal off at 08:00hrs with participants being asked to assembling at 07:00hrs
