– 145 students graduate from Nations University
As its 145 graduates tossed their hats into the air after receiving their MBA diplomas, Nations University has been accredited for having the highest pass rate in business education in the world.
University Director, Dr Brian O’Toole made this disclosure at the fourth graduation ceremony of the Nations School of Business and Management MBA programme. He noted that since the first examination, which was written in 2011, a total of 182 different examinations have been written, and the school has recorded 26 high distinctions, 383 distinctions and 1236 credits.
“We were told by one of the directors of the AIB [Australian Institute of Business] that Nations University has the highest rates in the world,” he said.
O’Toole said that since the inception of the course (on which Nations has been collaborating with the AIB) more than 400 students have enrolled and each year the number of students graduating has increased, with this year 145 from the Private and Public Sectors graduating.
“We would like to take the opportunity to thank the Australian Institute of Business for the support they have given in offering the MBA programme in Guyana,” he added, highlighting that the partnership between the two schools has grown over the years.
“You have now received a qualification that is internationally recognised…your celebration is now,” he told students, urging them to make their marks in the world of business. He also challenged them to unlock “doors” and forge changes that would impact Guyana.
According to the CEO magazine, AIB is now judged to be the number one business school in Australia and number five in the world within the online MBA rankings. It is now the largest provider of MBA programmes in Australia.
O’Toole further emphasised that the students were “not simply passing the MBA programme”, they were excelling with distinction and already making significant impact at their workplaces. He stated that Nations University has received reports that the students were already gaining promotions and applying their knowledge to the companies in which they work.
Academic Adviser of the AIB, Donald Fuller congratulated the students for their personal commitment towards completing their MBAs and advised them to move on to the next chapter in their lives. He added that Guyana was filled with immeasurable resources and opportunities and challenged them to take them.
“Love what you do and don’t settle…because when you settle you settle for someone else’s vision for your life,” he declared.
