to embrace Mashramani and share our culture with others. The black and gold costumes depict the “existing economy with the expected boom from the oil and gas industries”.
The band will feature popular artistes, including the talented Vanilla and calypso singers Mighty Believer and Jovinski. The audience got a taste of what could be expected on February 23.
Present at the launch was Minister Broomes, who was well-prepared and energised for the event, dancing to the Soca music. She stated that the band would depict all of the resources found in Guyana and encouraged all to support it, since it was “the best band”.
“We’re getting better and better every year as we go out there and celebrate. We have made accommodation, but there is limited space because the place to be is [the Ministry of] Natural Resources. The people to be with is the Ministry of Natural Resources, so everybody must be there,” she added.
This year, the Natural Resources Ministry is collaborating with various entities under its remit such as the Guyana Geology and Mines Commission (GGMC); the Guyana Gold Board, and the Guyana Forestry Commission.
