In the ancient county of Berbice, the excitement will continue at fever pitch tonight (Saturday, January 4) at the All Saints Presbyterian Church Ground in New Amsterdam with the 8-a-side Inter-Club Invitational Football tournament being sponsored by Banks DIH Ltd under its GT Beer brand, with collaboration from business entities Candy Boss and Antics.
Cougars FC
Hopetown Rangers FC, Cougars FC, Monedderlust FC, Paradise FC, Police FC, University of Guyana FC, New Amsterdam United FC and Corriverton Links are among the teams that have featured in this competition.
The tournament kicked off in fine style on December 6 with two-time champions, Police, being knocked out by Hopetown United. The teams now battling for supremacy in the business end of this tournament are Hopetown, Paradise, Monedderlust and Cougars.
The red-hot Hopetown team will include such talismanic players as Laushon Myles, Gladston Green and Shamar Sooklall among their other experts. Paradise will feature Jamal Cambridge, Javell Fraser and Colvis Saul among their other sharpshooters. Monedderlust will rely on the services of Alwin Mc Donald, Raynol Frank and Stephan Moore among their other football wizards. And the Cougars will depend on such hunters as Graham Thomas, Dane Johnson and Devon James among their other predators.
The tournament will conclude tonight, January 4, when the winning team will take home $600,000 along with a trophy, medals and bragging rights.
