The Guyana Cycling Federation (GCF) was forced to make changes to the dates and schedule of its national
2015 GCF – National Championship winner Hamza Esatman
championships. According to GCF’s committee member Linden Dowridge the following changes are in place:
Ladies Time Trials and Road Race for Juniors, Veterans and Ladies will take place at the Mahaicony Circuit, East Coast Demerara on Saturday June 18 from 08:00 hrs. Juniors and Veterans will cover a distance of 50 miles (8.5 laps) and Ladies will cover a distance of 25 miles (4 laps) while the Time Trials for the Ladies will be 5.8 miles (1 lap).
On Saturday June 25 the Mahaicony circuit will also host the individual Time Trials for the Juniors, Seniors and Veterans categories of cyclists from 08:00 hrs.
The Road Race for Elite Cyclist will take place on the outer circuit of the National Park on Sunday June 26 starting at 11:00 hrs and covering a distance of 75 miles (25 laps).
The finish line for the event will be outside the Guyana Defence Force’s entrance situated on Irving Street, opposite Barr Street, Kitty.
Last year’s male and female feature race and time trial were both respectively won by Hamza Eastman and England-based Claire Fraser-Green.
