New E Division Commander pledges to reduce crime, boost youth development

Newly-appointed Commander of E Division (Linden-Kwakwani), Anthony Vanderyden has pledged to continue to keep the crime rate at a minimum and to improve the Division’s ongoing youth development programme as a means of reducing and preventing juvenile delinquency. Vanderyden, who took up the post

from Senior Superintendent Fazil Karimbaksh, commenced his time in office on Monday. According to the Police Commander, one of his aims is to work along with members of the public in solving crimes. He alluded that he has an open-door policy where anyone is welcomed to meet with him on policing matters. Vanderyden said there were other major plans which would later be revealed; however, he noted that mobile and vehicular patrols would continue as Police in the Division continued to work towards crime prevention. On Wednesday, the newly-appointed Commander met with outgoing Linden Mayor Carwyn Holland and Mayor- elect Waneka Arindell. He is expected to meet with other stakeholders within Region 10 (Upper Demerara- Berbice).
