New Eastville Nursery School commissioned

Eastville Nursery School, located on the East Coast of Demerara (ECD), was on Friday commissioned by Education Minister Nicolette Henry.

The new Eastville Nursery School

Construction of this $20 million school commenced in March 2016, and was completed in August 2017. The school has capacity to house some 120 children.
During the commissioning, Henry, in brief remarks, said the school would provide quality early childhood education, and would cater to children with special education needs.
She explained to her audience that as the children progress, they will benefit from a system that provides quality education for all.
Minister Henry noted that as 21st century students, pupils deserve to learn in a 21st century environment. She said the various interventions being implemented by the Ministry of Education, its officers and teachers are to ensure that children access nothing less than what they deserve.
Regional Democratic Council Chairperson for Region Four, Genevieve Allen, said a feasibility study was done in 2015, and in the education plan for the region, construction of the school was included.
She said education is important for the development of any nation, region, or community.
