The NEW GPC INC on Thursday rewarded six of its employees’ children for their outstanding performances at this year’s National Grade Six Assessment (NGSA). The company’s annual bursary award offers six students a cash prize of ,000 each, every year, for the five years that they would spend in Secondary School. In addition to ,000 each, for two years, if they pursue the Sixth Form examinations.
Michael Stephens, a representative of the Guyana Labour Union lauded the corporation for giving back to its workers, stating that it is a good thing when a corporation invests in its employees. He also congratulated the children for their excellent performances at the examination.
Meanwhile, Head of the Quality Assurance Department for NEW GPC Aruna Budram stated that she was not surprised to see the employees’ children receiving awards for their performances at the NGSA since they (employees) were hard working people.
She urged the children to sacrifice their time for an education and be assured that they have a company that is willing to invest and support them in their academic endeavours. She also encouraged them to develop their strengths and select their career paths.
Top performer Kristen Bhola thanked the company for acknowledging their success, as she and the other children vowed to do their best in the next five years. Bhola secured grades to attend the St Rose’s High school.
