New Guyana-China Friendship Society executives pay courtesy call on Chinese Ambassador
The newly elected executive committee of the Guyana-China Friendship Society (GCFS) paid a courtesy call to the Ambassador of China to Guyana, Her Excellency Ambassador Guo Hai Yan, and the esteemed Councillors of the Chinese Embassy in Guyana.
The courtesy call, led by newly elected GCFS President, Paul Cheong, was aimed at introducing the new executive committee and identifying areas in which the two sides can cooperate to nurture closer friendship and mutual cultural exchange between Guyana and China.
Among the areas discussed were the promotion of university opportunities in China for Guyanese citizens, the introduction of traditional Chinese medicine, and sports/martial arts such as Wushu and Tai Chi.
Ambassador Guo Hai Yan expressed her support for the society and emphasised the importance of cultural exchange programmes. She highlighted the long-standing friendship between China and Guyana and expressed her confidence in the society’s role in deepening those connections.
