Following the conclusion of Village Council elections throughout Region Two (Supenaam-Pomeroon), two toshaos have retained their positions while seven new village leaders have been sworn in to represent the residents in their communities.
Ralph Hendricks has been elected the new Toshao of Capoey, replacing Melrose Henry; while Philbert Gudge has replaced Harold Marslowe as Toshao of Bethany.
In Wakapao, Howard Cornelius has replaced Errol Williams as Toshao. The new Toshao of St. Monica/Karawab is Thomas Charles, who has replaced James Miguel; while Michael Samuels has been elected his deputy.
After the votes had been counted in Kabakaburi, it was determined that Sherman Lyte has been elected to replace former Toshao Cleveland Simon. Aubrey Fredricks took the title of Toshao of St. Deny’s in Tapakuma, thus replacing former Toshao James Schadde.
David Wilson retained by a landslide his position as Toshao of Akawini. Wilson has pledged to continue efforts to develop his community; while Mashabo Toshao Sylvin Raphael has also retained his position.
The Region Two Administration has said it expects the elected toshaos and their councils to provide efficient and effective management that will ensure the development of their respective communities.
