New Zeeburg Secondary School to be opened in September – HM

The new Zeeburg Secondary School, West Coast Demerara, is scheduled to be finally opened for the new school year in September.
The school was scheduled to be commissioned and opened earlier this year following its completion but saw numerous setbacks.
Unidentified persons had vandalised the school, causing a major delay in its opening.
Following this, more work had to be carried out to have the school repaired and cleaned where needed; however the slowness of those working to have the issue rectified angered parents who were fearful for the lives of their children attending the old facility.
However on Saturday, the Headteacher of the school announced to parents that the school will be officially opened for the new school year.
Staff are currently working hard to have all the necessary equipment and furniture moved to the new building, she informed.
Parents, especially those with children that were being registered, expressed delight with the announcement.
One mother Natasha Adolphus noted that even though she was delighted to have her daughter attend the school, she was afraid of its condition and was hopeful the new building would be opened.
The head teacher also expressed satisfaction and enthusiasm for the new school year: “I am beyond delighted that we can finally move over and be comfortable; this has been long overdue”.
The Ministry of Education had a new school built following many complaints from teachers and students/parents of the poor conditions of the old building.
