NGSA results set for release in next 2 weeks

As emotions run high over the release of the much anticipated results for the 2016 National Grade Six Assessment (NGSA), the Education Ministry has pronounced that the results should be disseminated within the next two weeks.

Initially, parents, student and teachers were expecting the results last week or early this week, with even Education Minister, Dr Rupert Roopnaraine relating that the Ministry was anticipating the results last Friday.

However, according to Chief Education Officer (CEO) Olato Sam, the results will be made available at schools within the next two weeks. It however did not indicate specifically which day the results are expected.

Since the beginning of June which marked a little over a month since the examinations were sat, over 14,500 Grade Six students from across Guyana were on the ‘look out’ for the results. These results are usually sent to the Ministry and distributed across schools a little over a month after the exams are written.

This is usually the period between every year that students from across the country look forward for the release of their results from the NGSA which is written in the latter part of April.

On April 27 and 28, Grade Six students from across Guyana set out to their respective schools with hopes running high as they sat the two-day examinations.

The results of these exams would determine their entry into secondary schools across the country as the new school term begins in September.

These students were tested on the four main curriculum subjects – Mathematics, Science, Social Studies and English.
