With reference to a letter published in the Guyana Times of May 2, 2017 under the caption “Old people at the mercy of NIS Melanie office” and signed “pensioner”, please be advised that management is very concerned about the contents stated therein, and hereby offers the following response:
1. Members of staff are trained to deal with the members of the public, and are expected to do so in a professional manner.
2. Employees are frequently reminded of their responsibilities and management’s expectations.
3. This matter is currently being investigated; and once breaches are found, the necessary corrective measures will be put in place to avoid any recurrence of this untenable situation.
