An employee attached to the National Insurance Scheme (NIS) collapsed and died at his Camp and Bent Streets office shortly after complaining of feeling unwell on Thursday.
The dead man was identified as 31-year-old Shovon Gomes of Lot 124 West Ruimveldt, Georgetown.
According to reports received, Gomes confided in a few of his co-workers that he was not feeling well during working hours on Thursday.
He had complained of stomach pains and believed that he might have been suffering from ‘wind pain’.
However, it was while the staff was preparing to go home on Thursday that he suddenly collapsed. As such, the paramedics were summoned but they were unable to revive Gomes.
According to a source, the now dead man had been employed at the Insurance Scheme for more than five years.
Meanwhile, almost two weeks ago, the lifeless body of a 53-year-old woman was discovered in the Special Constabulary (SC) Headquarters barracks room on Princes Street, Georgetown.
