No charges yet as Police wait on DPP

42kg drug bust

Three persons who were busted with 42 kilograms of cannabis at Golden Fleece Village, Essequibo Coast on January 6 at about 17:30h remain in custody as Police await advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions.
The three were busted when joint services ranks went to Back Street, Golden Fleece village and intercepted motor car PMM 9059 as its three occupants were proceeding in a northerly direction. The car was searched in their presence, and two white bags containing 70 parcels wrapped with clear tape and brown cardboard were discovered. Each parcel contained leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be cannabis. When told of the offence, the trio remained silent.
The suspected cannabis, when weighed, amounted to 42 kilograms. The driver of the car is a known character to the Police, and has matters pending in court.
Police have said that, since their arrest, the men are cooperating with investigators.
