No foul play in Reg 9 teacher’s death – Autopsy

Days after it was reported that the lifeless body of a teacher attached to the Karasabai Primary School, Region Nine (Upper Takutu-Upper Essequibo) was found in his yard, a post-mortem examination conducted on his body has ruled out foul play.
Police had initially suspected that the man’s death was suspicious since there were marks of violence on his body.
The lifeless body of 31-year-old Peter Christian, a father of four, was found by his father on Sunday last about 23:30h in the South Pakaraimas village.

He was last seen alive in the company of his father consuming alcohol earlier that evening. The son, however, left the gathering. After some time had elapsed and he did not return, his father went in search of him and it was then the discovery was made. Christian’s body was found with bloodstains to the head.
His body was taken to the Lethem Hospital Mortuary and later transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital Mortuary, where he was identified by his brother, David Christian.
Meanwhile, the autopsy performed on the body of the teacher proved that he died from multiple acute stomach ulcers, which caused bleeding in the stomach, and cirrhosis of the liver. The post-mortem was performed by Government Pathologist Dr Nehaul Singh.
The teacher’s body was then handed over to relatives for burial.
