The old Lance Gibbs stand at the world famous Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) ground, Bourda is no more after majority of the building materials were stripped from the stand. The better pieces of wood were used to erect a pavilion facing the hockey field while the rest of the structure will eventually be taken down.
The move became necessary after the former international cricket venue is no longer used for such events but rather the GCC hockey teams and the Guyana Hockey Board have been maximizing the outdoor hockey field. The new stand will bring comfort to hockey players and spectators during events.
