A 21-year-old operator of Nonpareil, East Coast Demerara was on Sunday arrested along the Coldingen Public Road, ECD, after a firearm and matching ammunition were discovered in his possession.
Information reaching Guyana Times revealed that on the day in question at about 20:30h, Police ranks were conducting a mobile patrol when they observed the suspect acting in a suspicious manner.
This prompted the ranks to conduct a search on his person during which a .38 revolver and six live rounds of ammunition were unearthed.
The illegal gun and ammunition were reportedly stuck to the right side of the waist of his pants. The firearm was lodged and the individual is being processed for court.
Less than one week ago, a 24-year-old baker of D’Urban Street, Lodge, Georgetown, was arrested after he was found with an unlicensed .38 revolver that contained two matching rounds.
Police reports revealed that a party of policemen received information of an alleged robbery under arms at Smyth Street, Georgetown, and proceeded to the area to investigate. While in the vicinity of Hadfield and Leopold Streets, Georgetown, lawmen observed a male standing along the western side of Leopold Street
Upon noticing the police vehicle approaching, the young man immediately dropped a black object and made several steps towards the southern side of the street. He was subsequently stopped and a search conducted unearthed a black .38 revolver containing two matching rounds. He was arrested and escorted to Brickdam Police Station.
