Rovin Lall of the Stella Maris Primary School and Samuel Barkoye of North Georgetown Primary School have topped the country at the 2020 National Grade Six Assessment, both attaining 525 marks each out of a possible 528.
They have both earned a spot at Queens College.
The other top students are Alexander Singh of Marian Academy, who secured 524 marks, earning a spot at Queens College; Lianna Dharampaul of Mon Repos Primary who gained 523; Brandon Ramdin of Westfield Prep who also earned 523; Britney Peters of One Mile Primary who scored 521; Gabriel Felix of the New Guyana School who got 521; and Dhanesh Tularam of the Academy of Excellence who received 521.
Chief Education Officer (CEO) Marcel Hutson said there were improvements in the subject areas of English, Social Studies, and Science. He suggested that the increased performance could be as a result of greater parent involvement.
More than 14,000 students wrote the NGSA amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
