NSBF Regional Preseason: PC, BHS, CA, CG record wins

… GT Academy winner of lone female game

The action kicked off in the National School Basketball Festival Regional Preseason games as the tournament witnessed five high intensity games over the weekend. The games saw Presidents College, Bishops High School, Chase Academy, Covent Garden registering wins in the male games and GT Academy victorious in the lone female game.

In an early preview of what to expect in the U16 division, the Bishops’ High School and President’s College led the way with impressive wins. In the first game presidents College battled Queens College and won 37-19 points. The one-sided affair saw Dejaun Grant leading the way for Presidents College with 13 points, 4 rebounds, he was ably supported by Abiel Ward 6 points and 15 rebounds, scoring for QC was Francois Myers with 7 points and 9 rebounds.
In game two Bishops High School defeated Marian Academy 43-16, leading the charge was Yaneil Easton 17points, 8 rebounds, Marion Fiedtkou 10points, 9 rebounds and Keyan Mars 9 points, 4 rebounds. Game 3 witnessed Chase Academy dominating West Demerara Secondary 33-24 as Paul Emanuel 27 points and Jonathan Richards 12 points, 7rebounds were the main scorers.
The final game saw Covent Garden Secondary edge pass North Georgetown 16-12 in a low scoring thriller. Top scoring was Jonathan Giddings with 12 points, while Gladwyn Bruntis of North Georgetown scored 8 points for his school.
The lone female game saw GT Academy defeating President’s College Girls 36 points to 4 points. The mauling saw Kassidy Wolford scoring 18 points and Sharay Johnson chipping in with 14 points respectively.
The NSBF Regional Preseason will continue on June 17th, 18th, 19, and 26th in Georgetown and on June 24th, Berbice, and June 25th, Linden, prior to the start of the NSBF festival on July 1st.
