The National Sports Commission (NSC) has promised to support Olympics-bound Chelsea Edghill while P&P Insurance Brokers has already put its words into action with a financial contribution to the table tennis player’s Tokyo Olympics preparation.
On Monday, accompanied by Guyana Table Tennis Association (GTTA) President Godfrey Munroe and her mother, Deirdre Edghill, the athlete, who would be participating in the Olympics for the first time, made a courtesy call on recently-appointed Director of Sport (DoS), Steve Ninvalle.
Describing the 23-year-old as an exemplary athlete, Ninvalle praised Edghill, highlighting the wow factor of her achievement of being identified by the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) as one of two players in the world, who were outstanding enough to receive a wildcard spot in the July 23- August 8, Tokyo Olympics.
In emphasising the importance of garnering as much support as possible for the table tennis player, Ninvalle committed to working along with the GTTA to lend support to the athlete.
The former Youth Olympian and Caribbean U-21 champion expressed her gratitude to the Director of Sport.
