As the Guyana Nurses Association celebrates its 90th anniversary, several activities were planned to observe the milestone. These include activities at the St Georges Cathedral, the Guyana Pegasus and the Arthur Chung Conference Centre from August 19-25, 2018.
It will be a ‘Global Guyanese Nurses Reunion’; a time of celebration, reflection and refocusing for a better organisation and improved nursing care to the Guyanese population. The first such reunion was held in 2002.
The theme for this 90th anniversary is: “Uniting Forces, Uplifting Nursing: Celebrating 90 years with Pride”. However, one of the most intriguing events that will be hosted to celebrate nurses is the concert.
For the first time, a concert titled “Nurses in Concert” will be held at the National Cultural Centre on Monday, August 20. The nurses will be performing dramatic skits, singing, modelling, spoken words and poetry. Those performing the soca and chutney renditions will be backed by the Mingles Sound Machine and Fitzroy Cummings.
The show is being directed by Sharon Cadagon Taylor. Admission to the concert is $1500 and $1000 and is available at the National Cultural Centre. The action gets underway at 20:00h.
