NWD man injured after car slams into tree

A North West District (NWD) resident is now injured after the car in which he was travelling slammed into a tree at Wanina Public Road, Mabaruma, Region One (Barima-Waini).

The injured man is 54-year-old Edgar Adams of Hosororo, NWD. The accident reportedly occurred on Sunday at about 13:00h and involved a motor car bearing registration number PNN 1366 – owned and driven by a 37-year-old man of Hosororo, NWD.
Police stated that that the motor car was proceeding along the Wanina Public Road when the driver – who was under the influence of alcohol – lost control of the vehicle, which ran off the roadway and slammed into a tree.
As a result of the collision, Edgar, who was an occupant of the car, received injuries to his head.
He was picked up in a conscious condition by Police and taken to the Mabaruma Regional Hospital where he was treated and admitted a patient suffering from head injuries.
His condition is listed as stable. The driver, who was behaving in a disorderly manner, was arrested and is assisting with investigations.
