Old age pension has increased from $33,000 to $36,000.
This announcement was made by Finance Minister Dr Ashni Singh in his $1.146 trillion Budget 2024 presentation in the National Assembly.
According to the finance minister, this will place an additional $2.7 billion of disposable income in the hands of over 76,000 old-age pensioners. In 2021, all old-age pensioners were given $25,000 monthly; in 2022 that sum was increased to $28,000 and in 2023 that sum increased to $33,000.
Meanwhile, public assistance has been increased to $19,000.
