“One Guyana” Basketball Premier League: Playoff pairings revealed

After months of exhilarating action at the National Gymnasium, the Group Stage of the inaugural “One Guyana” Premier League, which commenced on August 12, 2023, showcased potential basketballers for national selection to represent Guyana on the international stage, eight teams sealing their respective places in the playoffs set for January 13.
The eight teams that advanced to the playoffs are as follows: from the Harpy League Conference Pacesetters, there are the Black Mambas, Ravens, Kwakwani Untouchables and UG Trojans.
In the Harpy Eagle Conference, the Playoffs will see Pacesetters, who copped first place against Ravens in a three-game series; while Kwakwani Untouchable, coming in second, will play Black Mambas in third place in a three-game series in which the winner will move on to the Conference Finals.
The Jaguar Conference will see Stabroek Eagles, unbeaten in the group stage, coming against Kobras in a three-game series; while UG Trojans, coming in second place, will battle Bounty Colts, in a mixture of young and experienced, in a three-game series in which the winner will move on to the Conference Finals.

The top four teams qualify for the playoffs, in which the number one-ranked team plays the team ranked fourth, and the number two team plays the third-ranked team.
The winners of the play-off games will then advance to their Conference Finals, where they will play the best two-of-three games to determine who advances to the National Finals.
The tournament-winning team would receive $1 million along with trophies, while the runners-up would receive $500,000 plus trophies.
