One Guyana Basketball Tournament in full force on Saturday

A glimpse of what to expect

The action returns at the National Gymnasium as the One Guyana Basketball Tournament commences on Saturday, September 12th,2023 with three exhilarating games.
The Jaguar Conference with ignite with a winless UG Trojans looking for points, currently being in fifth place. They will be coming up against the Third Place Lodge/ Meadowbrook Nets on 2 points at 17:00h.
This game will then be followed by Two winless sides of the Harpy Conference, both looking for their first win, with Plaisance Guardians currently in Fifth Place seeking to come back after a recent loss coming up against North Ruimveldt Black Caimans sitting in Last Place with a game in hand on at 19:00h.
The GDF Outfit despite facing two defeats will look to secure their first win against a dominant Wortmanville/Werk-en-Rust Pacesetters — who is currently at the top of the Harpy League Conference to close the day’s action at the National Gymnasium.
The tournament will see 14 teams divided into two conferences, the Harpy Eagle Conference and the Jaguar Conference, with a projected 56 to 63 games.
The tournament will see the teams from the Jaguar Conference and Harpy Eagle Conference playing the teams within their conference twice with the top four teams qualifying for the playoffs.
The number one-ranked team plays the team ranked fourth and the number two team plays the third-ranked team.
The winners of the play-off games will then advance to their Conference Finals, where they will play the best two-of-three games to determine who advances to the National Finals.
The tournament-winning team would receive $1 million along with trophies, while the runners-up would receive $500,000 plus trophies.
The Tournament was made possible by sponsorship from the Culture, Youth and Sport Ministry; G-Boats Guyana; National Sports Commission, Guyana Basketball Federation, and Georgetown Basketball Federation.
