‘One Guyana’ Futsal Championships: Wismar, Gold is Money, Stabroek Ballers are latest winners

Wismar All Stars, Stabroek Ballers and Gold is Money were among the victors when the Kashif and Shanghai-organized ‘One Guyana’ National Futsal Tournament continued at the National Gymnasium on Mandela Avenue in Georgetown on Tuesday evening.
The Linden men of Wismar All Stars downed Bagotstown Warriors by a mammoth 8-1 margin. Jonah Simon led the charge for Wismar with a hat trick of goals in the 7th, 19th and 24th minutes, while Andre Mayers netted a hat trick in the 4th, 9th and 25th minutes. Allan Halley (1st) and Omar Williams (15th) each added one to Wismar’s tally. Akeem Wilson netted Bagotstown’s consolation goal in the 11th minute.

Stabroek Ballers easily overcame Timehri Ballaz in a 4-0 encounter. Bevney Mark netted Stabroek’s first goal in the 6th minute, and went on to complete his brace in the 26th. Shemar Welch and Dorwin George were the others to add to Stabroek Ballers’ tally.
Beterverwagting (BV) and Footsteppers found themselves emerging from a 1-all game, the first of which came in the 22nd minute off the boots of Shemar Brandt to give Footsteppers the advantage. Anthony Forrestor equalized for BV with a goal in the 30th minute.
Gold is Money closed off the night of futsal action with a 7-1 drubbing of Melanie. Randolph Wagner was on fire for Gold is Money, scoring goals in the 6th, 8th and 24th minutes. Jamal Pedro’s double in the 28th and 29th minutes added to the scoresheet, while Darren Benjamin and Keon B. found the back of the net in the 22nd and 15th minutes respectively. Phillip Williams pierced the nets for Melanie in the 12th minute.
The ‘One Guyana’ Futsal tournament will continue this weekend at the same venue.
