Not so long ago, Imran Khan ripped into the then Attorney General Anil Nandlall and his wife Hessaun Nandlall, for Mrs Nandlall being on the same overseas trip with her husband. He accused the Minister of being corrupt and wasting taxpayer dollars by taking his wife. It mattered not to him that Mrs Nandlall had gone to great lengths to explain and show that her presence was costing not a dime to the Guyanese taxpayer, that she was paying her own way. He maintained a sustained, abusive attack.
Well, now the Ministers are travelling the world with their spouses and children and relatives. We know of Nagamootoo who travels frequently with his wife and children, and Nigel Hughes who accompanies his Minister wife Cathy Hughes on overseas trips. Does Imran Khan feel the same way now? Or have his and his wife’s super salaried jobs changed his mind? Does he still think it is corrupt and a waste of taxpayer dollars for these many family members to be travelling with their Minister relatives? If he does, why hasn’t he spoken publicly on it, condemned and criticised it? Or perhaps he feels now that he was wrong then when he attacked Mr and Mrs Nandlall. If he feels he was wrong, does he not owe the Nandlalls an apology?
