GECOM Chairman saga
Leader of the Opposition Bharrat Jagdeo, on Wednesday continued consultations with civil society organisations on President David Granger’s “unilateral, illegal and unconstitutional appointment of a GECOM Chairman”.
The consultations are being held at the Office of the Opposition Leader on Church Street in Queenstown, Georgetown. Wednesday’s gathering (seen in photos) comprised representatives of women, youth, Amerindian, among several other non-governmental organisations.
Over the coming weeks, the Leader of the Opposition will continue to meet various stakeholders countrywide. On Tuesday, he met representatives from the Guyana Trades Union Congress (TUC), the Federation of Independent Trade Unions of Guyana (FITUG) and Private Sector bodies.
