“Orion expected to dominate in his event,” says Crawford
Ryan Crawford horse meet on today…
After one month of being shifted because of various constraints, the highly anticipated Ryan Crawford Memorial Horse Racing Meet will be hosted today at the club’s facilities at Alness Village on the Corentyne Coast in East Berbice.
The action commences from 13:00 hrs, and the day’s card has six events in which more than 40 horses will participate, as more than 2 million dollars in cash and prizes will be up for grabs.
Speaking with Guyana Times Sport, President of the Turf Club, Marcel Crawford Jnr, said: “The rains have finally held, and I am very happy as, after four weeks of pushing back the date, the horse meet can finally be held. I am very confident that this meet will be a success, as we have some of Guyana’s top horses participating.
“I am extremely proud of Orion, who originates from the Crawford Stables. he has been training hard and is most likely expected to come out on top in his event. Thus far, he has only lost one race, and that was the one in which he was injured. He has dominated in all his other races, and I am confident that he will dominate today’s races.
“I would like to thank the fans for being patient with me, and the sponsors also; and I would like to invite everyone to come out today and support this event.”
Some of the horses that are slated to participate in this event are: ‘Not This Time’, hailing from Sophia; ‘The Rock’, out of Bush Lot; Golden Blue Echo, Keep on Swinging, Awesome Friday, First Prince, Lucky Star, TNT, Red Jet, Byron Osona, Ebony Prince, Flo Joe, Silver Charm, Up Front, Kentucky Woman, and Massepequa Doctor.
Racing events on the card are listed as follows: The I and Lower, the J and Lower, the L3 Unclassified, the L1 and Lower, L2 and Lower, and the L and Lower. All prizes are inclusive of trophies. Individual trophies and other incentives will be given to riders who have performed exceptionally well.
Some of the major sponsors on board are Banks DIH, Jumbo Jet, Attorney-at-Law Poonai of Georgetown, NTN Studios, and Kenneth Auto Sales.
