Over 120 persons benefit from CIOG outreach at 58 Miles Mabura Road
The Central Islamic Organisation of Guyana (CIOG), in collaboration with public and civil society organisations, hosted a medical outreach on Sunday at 58 Miles Mabura Road in Region 10 (Upper Demerara-Berbice) that benefited more than 120 persons.
The primary purpose of the outreach was to provide medical assistance to the community and surrounding areas. The residents were able to have their blood pressure and glucose levels tested, access to mental health and eye care, therapeutic massage and COVID-19 vaccination and booster shots, with medical advice from general and specialty doctors.
The medical team was able to provide care to in excess of 120 persons inclusive of children, the elderly, and the differently able.
Along with the medical care provided, the residents present were issued with packages with basic daily necessities, inclusive of face masks, clothing, Pampers (both children and adults), sanitisers, and sanitising wipes along with over-the-counter and prescription medication.
The outreach was supported by the Guyana Cancer Foundation, Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation’s Eye Care Team, SEWA International, Dauntless Professional Therapeutic Bodyworks, and the Region 10 COVID-19 vaccination team.
