Home News Over 150 persons benefit from CIOG medical outreach
The Central Islamic Organisation of Guyana (CIOG), in collaboration with the Executives and Members of Peters Hall Masjid, held a medical outreach for the general public at the Peters Hall Masjid on Sunday.
The primary purpose of the outreach was to provide medical assistance to the community and surrounding areas in general. The residents were able to have their blood pressure and glucose levels tested while accessing HIV and STD testing, mental health and eye care services, COVID-19 vaccination and booster shots, along with medical advice from general and specialty doctors. The medical team was able to provide care to more than 150 persons inclusive of children, the elderly, and the differently able.
Along with the medical care provided, the residents present were issued with packages that included basic necessities, inclusive of face masks, clothing, and Pampers (both children and adults), sustenance and over-the-counter and prescription medication.
The outreach was supported by the Guyana Cancer Foundation, Mike’s Pharmacy, National Blood Transfusion Services, the National AIDS Programme Secretariat, GPHC Eye Care Team, and the Regional COVID-19 vaccination team.
