Over $18M in projects awarded by Anna Regina Municipality for infrastructure works

Residents living in various communities along the Pomeroon-Supenaam region can expect transformation in the coming months as the Anna Regina Municipality, Region Two, has awarded over $18 million worth in projects.
The contracts have been awarded to eleven contractors from the region by the National Procurement and Tender Administration Board (NPTAB). The signing was done on Thursday at the Anna Regina Town Council (ARTC) Boardroom, Region Two.

Speaking at the simple contract signing ceremony, Mayor of Anna Regina Town Council, Rajendra Prabulall noted that projects will commence soon in Anna Regina, Lima, Bush Lot, Walton Hall and Reliance on the Essequibo Coast. Prabulall emphasised that the tendering and the bidding processes were very transparent and various contractors benefitted.
Explaining the project, Prabulall said that several works will be done in the township of Anna Regina, Essequibo, which includes: repairs to old trailers at the Town Council, at a cost of $810,568; construction of shed, walkway and concrete slab in front of sanitary block at Anna Regina Car Park, at a cost of $1,366,690.
Additionally, $4,218,352 was awarded for the rehabilitation of the western and southern fence at Anna Regina Town Council; and the construction of a canteen at Anna Regina Car Park at a tune of $2,000,000. A total of $1,028,820 was also awarded for the construction of an 18’ x 2’ x 2 concrete box culvert with head walls in Telecoms Street, Anna Regina; source and supply crusher run at a cost of $1,195,970.
To improve the lives of residents, the construction of one 18’ x 2’ x 2’ concrete box culvert with head walls in Naipaul Street, Reliance at a cost of $1,028,820. The construction of a foot path bridge in Walton Hall was also awarded at a total cost of $746,200; the landfilling on swamp reserve in Bush Lot at a cost of $2,000,000 and construction of sanitary block at Bush Lot Market at a tune of $2,105,700. Coming to Lima, a cost of $1,498,880 was awarded for the construction of a 10’ by 3’ by 3’ concrete box culvert with head walls and self-acting the door at Lima.
Meanwhile, Prabulall called on the contractors to ensure that they deliver quality works in a timely manner.
