A Police operation at Hosanna Street, Rosignol, West Bank Berbice (WBB), Region Five (Mahaica-Berbice) on Monday led to the discovery of a quantity of cannabis. Police stated that ranks, acting on information received, conducted a search of a premises, but nothing was found. However, while leaving the area, they observed a black plastic bag next to a dam, about 10 feet away from the premises, and upon inspecting the bag, the cannabis was found.

The ganja was taken to the Blairmont Police Station, where it was weighed and amounted to 1.045 kilograms (kg). At the time of the discovery, no arrests were made. Meanwhile, in another Police operation at Kumaka Hospital Road, Moruca, Region One (Barima-Waini), a 42-year-old labourer from Skyland Village, Moruca, was arrested after a quantity of cannabis was found in his possession.
Based on reports received, the suspect was seated on an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) under the influence of alcohol.

The ranks stopped and conducted a search of his person, during which a transparent plastic bag containing the cannabis was found concealed in the upper right pocket of his pants. The suspect was arrested and escorted to the Acquero Police Station along with the cannabis and the ATV.
The cannabis was weighed and amounted to 17.2 grams. He remains in custody pending charges.
