Home News Over 200 persons benefit from CIOG’s medical outreach in Linden
The Central Islamic Organisation of Guyana (CIOG) on Sunday held a medical outreach at Central Amelia’s Ward, Linden, Region 10 (Upper Demerara-Berbice).
According to CIOG, residents were able to have their blood pressure and glucose levels tested. Tests were also conducted for HIV, Hepatitis B and Syphilis. Residents were also able to access mental health care along with over-the-counter and prescription medication. Eye testing, dental care and advice, COVID-19 vaccination and booster shots were also provided.
CIOG said on Wednesday that general and specialty doctors were on site and those who wished to contribute to a good cause were able to donate their blood to the Blood Bank. The medical team was able to provide assistance to more than 200 persons inclusive of children, the elderly, and the disabled.
Along with the medical care provided, the residents present were issued with packages that catered for basic daily necessities; inclusive of hair and skin care products, sanitation products, face masks, clothing and both children and adult pampers.
The outreach was supported by the US Embassy to Guyana Military Information Support Team, the Guyana Cancer Foundation, the Guyana Police Force, Kashif and Shanghai Organisation, Diaspora Auxilium, National AIDS Programme Secretariat, Linden and GPHC Hospital Eye Care Team, National Blood Transfusion Services, Linden Hospital Dental Team, SEWA International Guyana, Sterling Products Limited, the Linden COVID-19 Vaccination Team and TSI Security Services.
