
The best pool players across the country are being invited to the West Coast of Demerara (WCD) this weekend as the Suraj Sports Bar at Meten-Meer-Zorg hosts their Open 8-ball Pool tournament.
The vibrant competition, anticipated to be filled with comradery, talent and lots of trick shots, will be hosted across Saturday, December 20th and Sunday, December 21st.
With over $400,000 in cash and prizes up for grabs in this weekend’s activities, the grand winner will be going home with a $150,000 first prize and a trophy. Second place will pocket $70,000, while third and fourth place cart off $30,000 each. Players placing fifth to eighth will each be rewarded with $10,000, alongside a trophy.
Organisers have indicated that there will be a special prize for the trick shot challenge.
The competition’s ball-in-hand rules include race to three, quarter-final and semi-final – race to four, and final – race to five.
Players interested in competing will have to pay a $5000 entry fee via MMG to Suraj Sports Bar – 7074119. Entries will close today, Friday, December 19, with a draw set to take place at 20:00h on the same day.
On Saturday, the Pools action will bully off at 16:00h, while on Sunday, an early start is anticipated from 11:00h.
