Over 50 Christianburg Secondary students benefit from cybersecurity training

The National Data Management Authority (NDMA) conducted cybersecurity training at the Christianburg Secondary School on Monday in an effort to integrate cybersecurity awareness into the education system.
Over 50 students were engaged in the training session that saw them benefitting from basic online security content including cyberbullying, phishing, online grooming, oversharing, creating strong passwords, and software updates, among others.
The training sessions, a DPI report stated, were focussed on equipping government employees and students with the knowledge and skills necessary to navigate the increasingly complex digital landscape, while safeguarding sensitive information in observance of Cybersecurity Awareness Month.
The training was held under the theme “Secure Our World.” At the end of the stimulating session, the students received tokens that will equip them with the fundamental knowledge and resources needed to stay safe online.
According to the DPI report, secondary schools still to benefit from training sessions are Richard Ishmael, Cotton Field, Anna Regina Multilateral, Hope, Fort Wellington, Skeldon Line Path, New Amsterdam Multilateral, Soesdyke, Leonora, and Vreed-En-Hoop. Similar sessions were recently conducted at the Tucville Secondary School which saw some 20 students benefitting.
The initiative is part of an ongoing commitment by NDMA to bolster cybersecurity awareness and preparedness.
